Working in an office comes with many distractions, you are pressured for the work you complete. It has countless rules, strict guidelines, and timesheets that you need to fill out and follow. However, if you are working from home, and more importantly for yourself, it is up to you to create the rules and you can start benefit from the advantage of working from home.
On the other hand, something that you need to remember when you work at home is your self-discipline. This is one of the things that you need to be strict on yourself in order to become successful in working for yourself.

Home Working Advantages
Commuting and Spending Costs
You will no longer need to budget your money for commuting or fuel payments. Walking to your office is free after all! You do not need to stress about the bumper-to-bumper traffic, nor the people on the pathway that walk agonizingly slow, that seem to have forgotten what a straight line is.
Then you do not worry about buying snacks and lunch outside of the office which tends to be more expensive. Instead, if you are working from home, you can buy all you need in the weekly shop that will cover you for that week.
Fewer Distractions (Maybe)
On the whole, there are fewer distractions if you are working at home, you don't have to listen to all the other phone calls going on around you, nor do you have to partake in Monday morning office gossip. On the other hand, working from home does offer its own distractions. How easy is it to give in to your urge to catch up on the latest episode of your favorite TV show, seeming your TV is only in the other room! This is why it is very important to have that self-motivation I spoke about earlier. A great way to ensure your concentration is on work and work only is to give yourself a dedicated work environment. This might mean converting a spare bedroom into an office. This will give you a place to go to and work, a little bit of structure is very important.
Work-Life Balance
You can decide when to have your breaks, time away from work to play with your children or your pets can be decided by you. Perhaps you will take 2 hours out mid-afternoon to pick up the kids and take them to the park. Once they settle down for bed, you can catch up on the few hours you took off.
Starting a business, and working from home is particularly good for mums with young children. They can continue to take care of their children, but at the same time, they can earn an income without having to go back to full-time work.
How to Stay Motivated When You Work From Home
I mentioned motivation is a key part of successfully working and running a business from home. There are a few easy tweaks you can start today, they will keep you motivated and ready for the day ahead.
Early Wake-Up
The hardest thing every morning is to wake up early. You feel lazy to start your day. However, getting up early gives you so much more time to relax a bit, before settling down for work. It is commonly known that waking up early has many benefits to your health.
Get Dressed Properly
In the office, you need to follow the dress code rules that your boss or the management enforce. However, at home, the dress code depends on you. You will be the boss that has the right to choose the clothes to wear that you feel comfortable with while working. A common issue among home workers is the tendency to never fully get dressed. Don't get me wrong, wearing what is comfortable is important, but make sure you get up and have a shower. Wear clothes that represent a working day, it's a fantastic way to ensure you are motivated to get the work done.
Home Office
I touched on this earlier, it is not any good if you work on your bed or the living room sofa. You will encounter many distractions that we are trying to avoid by working from home. Find a place in your house that you can create as your office. Put all the things that you need for your work in there. You can put your awards on the wall of your new office at home. It will help to keep you motivated throughout the day.
Take a Break and Bond with Family
You are not a robot, remember that. Just take a break if you feel that you are tired, and take some minutes to take your eyes away from the computer. Take some time to enjoy your family. Sometimes it can be hard to come out of “work mode”. It is important you can shut away work, and enjoy your evening.
